A Pink Party

I can't believe my little girl is 3. She has really gotten into the color pink. "My pink," she used to say about anything she saw that was pink, whether it was hers or not. Just a couple weeks ago she wouldn't let anything but the pink hair clipper attachment touch her head ... at least it's even.

So, a pink party was in order. Initially, we had ideas of a Pinkalicious (story by Victoria Kann) party but soon realized we didn't want to create the likes of elaborate Pinkalicious parties we found on the Internet. A loose pink color theme was enough for this 3 year old. She had a party with her home school preschool friends. Kim made pink "play-dough" for everyone as well as cupcakes that the kids got to frost themselves with pink frosting. They read Pinkalicious, learned about colors of the rainbow, went outside and saw a rainbow that Kim had made with water and the sunlight, and painted colors of the rainbow on leaves to make leaf prints. Myles was devastated that Cedar was having a party while he was at school. We had to reassure him too many times that we were going to have a family party as well. We had half of it one day - opening presents - right before I had to go to my other job, and the other half - lunch with fancy pink napkins and pink cake - on another day.

Highlights according to me were: Kim's newly-made celebration banner, lunch with the fancy pink napkins, the pink pedal-less bike (thanks sis for the inspiration!), seeing Cedar in her new pink shoes and rain boots (they were a steal at www.sierratradingpost.com), and catching her dancing after I noticed she snuck away from eating her cake. ... salsa tunes are always more tempting than cake
